the carpal tunnel of love [chapter nine]

(Chapter Nine)
Concert in the Dark
30 minutes later...

I ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THIS STORY TAKES PLACE IN...Chicago...(I wonder why....)

ALSO: Between the Trees is not a fictional band. They really do have music, and the songs I am using is off their album, "The Story and the Song." Their Myspace is www.myspace.com/betweenthetreesmusic and their normal website is betweenthetrees.net.

Heaving for breath in the cold Chicago air, we arrived at the garage, which was already bursting at the seems with people. "S**t. How are we gonna see the concert in this mess?" asked Spencer, pointing to the overflowing garage. "Follow me," I said. Lead by me, we walked over to a side entrance. "In here," I whispered, trying not to let the other concert-goers know. The others nodded and we walked inside the side entrance. We were now right in front of the entire crowd on the left side. "We are going to have to push if we want to get to see the band better, like from the center," I said making a pushing motion. I heard murmurs of agreement from the others and we linked arms. Spencer, being the biggest and strongest, lead the push. With all our might we pushed are way to the center, slowly but surely.

"What the f**k are you guys doing?" said some little 5'4 dude to the side of me. "Well, we are *breath* trying to push our way to the middle," I said, briefly glancing at him. I looked again, I know that face... I thought. "Oh my gosh, your Pete Wentz!" I said, almost falling over from excitement. "Yes, that's my name," he said looking annoyed, "And I'm not doing pictures." I laughed and said, "Guys, look who's here!" Spencer, Jon, Avery, Marissa, and Brendon all looked. "Hey! Pete! Whats up man?" Brendon said, breaking out chain and high-fiving him. "Brendon? What are you doing here?" Pete asked, returning the high-five. Brendon re-linked himself into the chain and said, "This was our last stop on the tour, and I had a little accident on stage, I'll tell you later. Do you want to join our little group?" Pete said, "Sure," and grabbed onto Marissa's arm as she passed by.

We made our way to the middle with a couple of punches from Spencer and a lot of pushing. "ARE YOU READY TO MAKE SOME NOISE??" yelled the lead singer of BTT (Between the Trees) into the microphone. The entire crowd screamed back and they began to play their song, 'The Way She Feels.' The crowd began to sing and the people were surfing all over the place. "The deeper you cut the deeper I hurt, the deeper you cut it only gets worse!" sang the lead singer into the mic as he closed his eyes. "Now ladies and gents we will be playing another song off our album, "The Story and the Song," called "White Lines and Red Lights!" The crowd yelled in delight and began the ritual all over again.

An hour later, the concert, after many encores was over. People began to leave and the band began to pack up. Pete, who had a very interested look on his face, walked over to them. Ryan, the lead singer looked shocked and amazed at the sight of Pete walking over to him. The rest of the band gathered and Pete walked outside to talk to them.

"Well, guys, how'd you like the concert?" I asked, smiling with delight. "Man, I loved it, I hope that Pete is signing them right now," said Jon, brushing off some dirt that he had retrieved from a falling crowd surfer. "I thought it was really good! The lead singer has really good vocals," Brendon said admiring Ryan's voice. Spencer nodded in agreement with the both of them. "Well, we have already had the privilege to see them in concert here before because we are very close friends to the band," I said. "We also share the garage with them, ever since they moved here from Orlando," Avery added. We walked outside and found Pete and BTT trading phone numbers and IM addresses. "Call me as soon as possible, guys," said Pete as he walked over to us. "Will do!" yelled back Brad, the guitarist. "So, how is everyone?" Pete asked. "I'm good," said Jon, "I am a little hungry, though." "Yeah, me too," said Spencer. "I know where we can go," said a voice from behind me.
