the carpal tunnel of love [chapter twenty-five]

Chapter Twenty Five
Evil Comes Disguised Like a City of Angels

Alexis's POV
"Alexis? Alexis? Alexis? Wake up," Patrick said, nudging my arm softly. "Mmmfffivemmmmoreminutes," came the slurred reply from my mouth. "No, now! We have to be down in sound check in thirty minutes, I can't believe we slept this late," Patrick said, pushing the covers off me. I stuck out my tongue and him and walked over to my suitcase. I threw off what I was wearing and found a cute Red Jumpsuit Apparatus tee I had just bought and some vintage torn jeans. From the little mirror in my suitcase I could see Patrick's face. He seemed to be enjoying this, throughly. I smiled to myself, grabbed my make-up kit and closed the suitcase. "Oh, come on now, you can finish putting make-up on when we get there," Patrick whined. "Okay, fine," I said, applying the last bit of eyeliner on both my eyes.

"Where is everyone else?" I asked when I saw that they were all gone. "Already there," Patrick said in a slightly annoyed tone. "I'm sorry," I said, feeling guilty. "Oh, no, it's okay, it's just I wish that I had been awake earlier," Patrick replied. I smiled weakly and Patrick held my hand. "It's not your fault," he whispered into my ear, then kissing me. I wish that moment could have lasted forever, but the limo was awaiting us. We got into it and we drove down to the venue. Patrick kept closing his eyes and leaning back and I wondered what he was doing. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Nothing," Patrick replied, a little sadly. I leaned over and I kissed him on the lips. Patrick seemed to come out of his little trance and he kissed me back.

We got out of the car and had to be contained by security since there were so many screaming fans. "PATRICK I LOVE YOU!" "OHMYGOSH PATRICK YOU ARE THE BEST!!" "WHO THE f**k IS THAT GIRL WITH HIM???" Those were only some of the shouts we heard as we passed into the concert hall. Patrick showed me backstage and said, "You can put on your make-up in here," and walked off. I looked around and I found a dressing room and walked in. "Whoa!" Pete said to me as I walked in. He was changing his clothes. Thankfully (oh but not really, I'd kill to see him like this!) he had his pants on and was putting on a shirt. "Wow, I mean sorry, didn't mean to interrupt, Patrick just put me backstage and told me to put on my make up," I said, surveying Pete's body. (Hey, a girl can look right? I mean I am not tied down to Patrick! Come on...someone has to agree with me...anyone?) "Heh, well you can put it on in here, just freaked me out a little bit when you walked in," Pete replied, putting on his shirt. "Thanks," I said, sitting down and looking into the mirror. I grabbed my handy to-go make-up brush and I was off.

"Hey thanks for letti-" I began to say when Pete pinned me to the wall. Before I could say another word, he was making out with me. I managed to throw him off me and say, "What the f**k!?!?" "Wow, Jesus, I'm sorry, I'm, wow," Pete said, almost not-believing what he had just done. I could see he was genuinely sorry and blushing. "It's okay, I just guess sometimes you can't hold your feelings in sometimes," I said, placing an arm around him. Pete took something out of his pocket, handed it to me and walked out of the room.

I barely sleep thinking of you
Time passes so slowly
the next day rises and
your face shines in the sun
eyes twinkling
mouth always curved into a smile

It's so unfair that I see the forbidden fruit
but I can never eat it
I feel no jealousy toward it's protector
though he is the only one
who has tasted it

i loved you from the moment i knew you
but baby, love takes time to set in
and i'm feeling pretty sick for you
funny how we love the ones who
are already taken
all i know is that you have stolen my heart.

That is what the piece of paper Pete handed me read. I had no idea what to do. Should I tell Patrick? No. My heart and my brain were in heated battle over such a trivial piece of paper. I shoved the piece of paper into my pocket and walked out to find Patrick.
