the carpal tunnel of love [chapter twenty]

Chapter Twenty

Chapter Twenty
Times Like These

Alexis' POV
(for the sake of time and boredom in my fic I'm jumping to the funeral of Marissa)

Everyone was dressed in black and faces filled with sadness. Spencer was crying and Jon, Ryan and Brendon stood around him, trying to say thing to cheer him up or at least comfort him. Avery, Sam and I were around Marissa's family, looking at Marissa's peaceful face in the casket. I peered into the casket and put a rose into her hand. "You always understood me," I said under my breath to her. I walked over to Patrick, who was surrounded by Pete, Joe and now Andy who had flown down too. Tomorrow began the Europe tour for Fall Out Boy and I knew that I was too well "poor" to come with them to Europe. Patrick took my hand and I began to cry. I buried my head into his soft shoulders and hugged him. "It's okay, shh, it's okay," he whispered softly into my ear. I wiped away my tears and said, "I need to see Spencer, I will be back in a few minutes." Patrick and the others nodded and I walked over to Spencer, Jon, Ryan and Brendon. "Hey," I said quietly. "Hey," Ryan said in a small voice. Brendon motioned Ryan and Jon over and that left me alone with Spencer. Spencer just looked off into the sunset and tears were rolling down his cheeks. I leaned next to him and he looked at me. "Are you okay?" I asked, putting my arm around him. Spencer nodded his head slowly and pulled me into a hug. He began to sob and I patted his back.

Marissa's family beckoned me to come over and I pulled away from Spencer. I took his hand and we walked over to them. "Alexis, you have been a dear to us all these years and Marissa loved you so much," Marissa's mom said to me. "I know," I replied in a knowingly voice, nodding as well. "Thank you so much for coming out today, it was-it was s-so nice of you," she said, beginning to cry. I pulled her into an embrace and I cried with her. "May God Bless you," Marissa's mom said to me as they walked away. "Thank you, good-bye Mrs. Robinson," I said, waving my hand somberly in her parting. The funeral seemed quicker than I could have ever imagined. I walked back over with Spencer to Avery, Jon, Joe, Andy, Patrick, Pete, Sam, Ryan and Brendon. "What now?" Jon asked, breaking the silence. "I guess we go home," I said with a hint of sadness in my voice.

"Home?" Avery questioned. "Yes, home, our journey ends here," I said. "Why is it ending?" Patrick asked me. "Well, you are going to Europe on a tour with Panic! and we can't possibly afford to come with you," I replied. "We could pick up the tab for you to come," Pete and Ryan said at the same time. "Well, I don't know, I mean, Sam, Avery, what do you think?" I asked, looking at them. "I'd like to go," Sam said, leaning next to Ryan. "Sure, why not? I mean what's here for us? An empty apartment? Let's go on an adventure!" Avery said, slight cheeriness in her voice. "Okay, but are you sure you can pay for this?" I said to Pete. "Absolutely, we have so much fucking cash I don't really know what to do with it, I wish we could just play shows for free," Pete said. The members of Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco nodded in agreement.

"Let's get going then," Brendon said, taking steps toward our cars. "OOH OOH OOH!! I WANNA DRIVE!" Jon said. Seemed as if he could be silly in even the most serious of times. "Oh no, not again! After what you did after we got out of the hospital, no way!" Patrick said. Jon made a pouty face and stuck his tongue out at Patrick. "I'll drive." Spencer said. "Are you sure?" Brendon asked. "I'm sure." Spencer replied. Brendon tossed him the keys and we made our way to the car once more
