Chapter Twenty Nine
You're Too Much Pretty to Feel Blue
Patrick's POV
Showtime. Pete and Joe were standing adjacent to me, Andy in the back, all ready to go. By now I was sure that everyone had heard about Pete and I's fight because Andy and Joe kept giving me strange looks. Alexis, along with Avery and Sam stood on the side of the stage looking on. Avery and Sam smiled at me but Alexis just hung her head in shame. "Tonight, ladies and gentleman, oh f**k that, you guys aren't ladies and gents are you?" Pete said into the microphone. The audience yelled back screams and "No!" "Well tonight, boys and girls, we have a show to die for, not only is Fall Out Boy going to play but, PANIC! AT THE DISCO!" Pete shouted into the microphone. The audience pratically went insane. The members of Panic! walked on stage and said into their own seperate microphones greetings of hello.
They walked back offstage and Pete began to play the opening notes of "Dance Dance" on his bass. "What the f**k are you doing Pete?" I said away from the microphone. "Sing Patrick," he playfully replied back.
She says she's no good with words but I'm worse
Barely stuttered out
"A joke of a romantic" or stuck to my tongue
Weighed down with words too over-dramatic
Tonight it's "it can't get much worse"
Vs. "no one should ever feel like.."
I'm two quarters and a heart down
And I don't want to forget how your voice sounds
These words are all I have so I'll write them
So you need them just to get by
That's when Pete whispered into the microphone, "We're going into D-Minor"
Dance, Dance
We're falling apart to half time
Dance, Dance
And these are the lives you'd love to lead
Dance, this is the way they'd love
If they knew how misery loved me
You always fold just before you're found out
Drink up its last call
Last resort
But only the first mistake and I...
I'm two quarters and a heart down
And I don't want to forget how your voice sounds
These words are all I have so I'll write them
So you need them just to get by
Why don't you show me the little bit of spine
You've been saving for his mattress, love
Dance, Dance
We're falling apart to half time
Dance, Dance
And these are the lives you'd love to lead
Dance, this is the way they'd love
If they knew how misery loved me
Why don't you show me the little bit of spine
You've been saving for his mattress (mattress, mattress)
I only want sympathy in the form of you crawling into bed with me
Dance, Dance
We're falling apart to half time
Dance, Dance
And these are the lives you'd love to lead
Dance this is the way they'd love (way they'd love)
Dance this is the way they'd love (way they'd love)
Dance this is the way they'd love
If they knew how misery loved me
Dance, Dance
Dance, Dance
Dance, Dance
Dance, Dance
I looked at Pete who smiling back at me, it wasn't a nice smile either, it was the evil creepy smile. "Guys, cut it out, we have a show to play," Joe said to Pete and I, "No more surprise numbers." Pete and I nodded back. "That last song was for someone I have just recently met, she's standing backstage right now," Pete said to the audience. What the hell was Pete doing? He was acting like he was nuts. The audience seemed to think that this was part of the show and they shouted, "Who??" Oh no, Pete. No way. I shot him a look and he just ignored me. "That's for us to know and you to never find out," Joe said into his microphone, sternly looking at Pete.
The rest of show went as planned, no more suprise acts from Pete. We walked offstage and Panic! went on. Pete was already talking with Alexis in a corner of the stage. "-look I just," Pete was saying before I walked over. "You can have her, Pete, all she is a little slut," I said to Pete and Alexis. Alexis reached out her hand, smacked me across the face and went off running, tears in her eyes. "Patrick, wow, what an incredible thing to say to someone you love," Pete said in a disbelieving tone. "Pssh, I don't love her," I said. Oh yes you do. "Patrick. Yes you do," Pete said, almost reading my mind. "Well there is nothing I can do now," I replied. "Go. Go after her, Patrick," Pete said, pushing me in the direction she went.
