the carpal tunnel of love [chapter one]

(Chapter One)

"...the Disco will be playing tonight at the Hard Rock!"

"Wh-*yawn*-at?? What did they say? Oh well." I thought as I rubbed my
eyes and jumped out of my lofty bed. The radio was playing and the
sunshine gleamed through the shutters on the window. I grabbed the alarm
clock, which was still going off, and realized it was 11:00 in the morning.
"Oh God! I'm late for band practice!" Grabbing my bass guitar, I hopped
into my small sedan and drove down to the practice spot. The practice spot was in a small garage by the Hard Rock about 13 blocks down. I jumped out of my car and quickly ran into the garage. What I saw would change me forever. It was Brendon Urie and Jon Walker from my favorite band, Panic! at the Disco. Gripping the guitar tightly in my left hand I walked over to Sam, my best friend and lead singer of my band "Matchstick Romancers". "Whaa-Whaa-Whaat's going on?" I stuttered, heart racing and palms sweating. Sam pulled me over. Whispering in my ear Sam said, "They heard us practicing as they walked by and came in to check us out. Of course it sounded a little weird because you weren't there to play bass, but your here now!" I responded, "Well I'm sorry I slept in late, I went to the craziest party last night. We had th-" "Time for that later, Lexi." Sam said as she grabbed my free hand.

Slowly, we walked over to a smiling Jon and Brendon. "Hello!" Jon said brightly as he reached out to shake my quivering hand. I quickly rubbed my sweaty hand on my pants and fingers trembling, I shook his hand. "I see you play bass. That's awesome!" Jon said looking at my Fender Standard Precision Electric Bass. I looked at my worn out bass and blushed. I then looked at Brendon and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself to you! I am Lexi." Brendon smiled at me and said, "Lexi, that's a pretty name. Well I think you know who I am." ::Right down to the soles of your shoes...I thought:: I shook his hand as well and then walked over to my amp and hooked up my bass. "Well, we best be getting to practicing, now," I said playing a scaled on my guitar. "Well, could we stay and here listen?" asked Brendon. "Sure!!" said Avery, the drummer of our band. "It's good with me," said Marissa, our guitarist. Sam smiled and nodded her head in agreement.

Avery started playing the beat of a tune I knew I knew by heart. It was Fall Out Boy's "Dance, Dance." I started playing the opening bass part and Sam started singing. Brendon and Jon started smiling and jumped up and down as if to impersonate fans at a concert. I laughed and grabbed my bass and licked it, ala Pete Wentz. Brendon whistled and Marissa started to rock out like Joe Trohman. When the song was over, Brendon called me over to have a private chat with him. "How would you like to be our opening band tonight?" I think at that point my heart stopped beating for a second. Gasping I said, "What did you say?" "Our opening band, do you want to be it?" Brendon repeated, smiling. "I-I-I don't know what to say...I guess so...SURE!!" I yelled as I hugged Brendon very tightly. I immediately ran over to Sam and told her. "ARE YOU FOR REAL?" she shouted. "Yes I AM!!" I screamed, jumping up and down.
