the carpal tunnel of love [chapter twenty-four]
Chapter Twenty Four
I'm Alright in Bed, But I'm Better With a Pen
Patrick's POV
I always hated airplanes. Whether it was that we might crash or the feeling of your ears popping. Alexis sat next to me in the window seat smiling and excited as ever. "Wow, I can't believe this is really happening," she said in disbelief. "Well, it is," I said, pressing her hand with mine. She looked over at me and smiled shyly. I leaned over and kissed her on cheek. She blushed and looked away into the window. I sighed and looked around at everyone else. Brendon was playing "rock, paper, scissors" with Jon and Spencer was reading a magazine about drumsets. Jon and Avery were in a hot make out session and Pete and Joe were intently watching the movie in the airplane. Andy sat behind us, sleeping, every now and then muttering something in his sleep. "I WIN!! HA HA IN YOUR FACE!" Jon yelled at Brendon. Brendon punched him in the arm and stuck his tongue out at him. "Sore loser! Nah Na Nah Na Nah Nah!" Jon said, jabbing Brendon in the stomach.
Five hours had passed and it was still four more hours until we arrived in the London airport. Alexis was sleeping, her head leaned next to the window seat. I really couldn't understand why I couldn't sleep, I was extremely tired and I just couldn't seem to get to sleep. I sighed rather loudly and Alexis woke up a little from her sleep. "Mmm, Patrick?" she said, rubbing her eyes, "You okay?" Of course I wasn't okay, but I couldn't let her know that. "I'm fine," I said, smiling a fake smile. "Okay," Alexis said with a little grin and she leaned her head onto my shoulder and got close to me. I leaned my head onto hers and I began to feel drowsy. God, she smelled so wonderful, whatever she was wearing was intoxicating me to no end. I could feel my eyes shutting and my body became weightless.
"WAKEY WAKEY!" I heard Jon yell into my ear. Everyone was getting up in the plane and getting their things. Alexis was still asleep and I nudged her lightly. "Alexis? Wake up," I said. Alexis moved and rubbed her eyes and stretched her arms in the air. "Time to go already? Oh-oh-kay," she said, stifling a yawn. We grabbed out belongings and made our way out of the plane, guarded by several security attendants. Camera phones clicked and the flash bulbs broke as we passed through the airport. "Oh my gosh, Pete Wentz!" we heard yelled several times. The same ritual, over and over and over again. We'd stop, smile for a picture, sign an autograph book and leave. I was beginning to grow tired of all the attention, no one could ever leave us alone.
We got into the limo that was awaiting us outside that drove us to our hotel. Everyone was pretty much tired from the long plane ride, so it was a silent ride to the hotel. When we got to our room, we had been paired with Pete and Brendon. We walked into our room and Alexis collasped onto the bed. At least this bed is more comfortable than the other one... I laid down next to her and closed my eyes. "Patrick?" I heard Alexis say. "Yes?" I replied. "I love you," she said. I love you. Those three words cause more trouble than anything. But for her, it was different. She meant it and I knew it in my heart she did. I could feel the words slip from my mouth, "I love you too." I opened my eyes and Alexis was asleep. I could feel myself frown slightly but I just put an arm around her and touched her soft white skin. I closed my eyes once more and sleep set in.
